What is an automatic shop door?
An automatic shop door is a powered sliding or swing door set with sensors, which opens without anyone touching it.
Pharmacies, convenience stores and clinics choose automatic doors because customers are carrying things, pushing things or using mobility aids. A sliding door needs wall space to the side, and a swing operator can often be added to an existing door.
Power-operated doors have their own safety standard, BS EN 16005, and need risk-assessing and maintaining once they are in, so allow for that in your running costs.
What are the options?
| Sliding | Best for wide, busy entrances |
