What is a frameless glass shopfront?
A frameless glass shopfront is made of large toughened or laminated panes held by discreet channels and patch fittings, with almost no visible frame.
This is the look for salons, showrooms and premium retail. The street sees straight into the shop. All the glass is specified as safety glass, and the door runs on floor springs or patch hinges.
If you want a shutter with a frameless front, plan it now. There is no frame to fix to, so the box normally goes above the head and the guides need their own fixing line. An internal shutter behind the glass is often the neatest answer.
What are the options?
| Glass door with patch fittings | The classic frameless entrance |
| Sliding glass door | Saves floor space |
| Glass with a slim head channel | Keeps a straight line at the fascia |

What do people ask about frameless glass shopfronts?
Is a frameless shopfront secure?
It can be, with laminated glass and good locking. Many owners add an internal shutter or grille for out-of-hours security.
Can a frameless shopfront have a shutter?
Yes. It needs planning early because there is no frame to fix to. An internal shutter is often the neatest route.
Do glass shopfronts need markings?
Large areas of glass that people could walk into need to be made visible, so we allow for manifestation where it is needed.
