What is a shop door?
A replacement shop door is a new door leaf, usually with its frame, closer and lock, fitted into an existing shopfront.
A door takes more punishment than the rest of the frontage put together. If the frame is sound we can often replace only the leaf, but a door that has dropped more than once usually means the frame or the pivot needs attention too.
Widening a door is worth considering at the same time, especially if customers use wheelchairs or pushchairs. The rules for new work are stricter than for what is already there, and we explain the difference at survey.
What are the options?

What do people ask about shop doors?
Can you replace just the door?
Often, yes, if the frame is sound. We check at survey.
How wide should a shop door be?
For new work the guidance asks for more clear width than an existing door may have. We measure yours and tell you what is sensible.
Do you fix existing doors?
Yes. See our shopfront repairs page.
