What can you expect in Caterham?
Whether the unit is on the main shopping street or a local parade in Caterham, the job is measured the same way, and Tandridge District Council is the council to check with.
What should you check before you decide?
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.
Can the shutter match my frontage?
Yes. Curtain, box and guides are powder coated to a RAL colour to match your frame as closely as the finish allows.
What electrics are needed?
A power supply near the box, installed by a qualified electrician. We show the position on the drawing.
What should you budget?
| Opening width | Typical unit | Guide price plus VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 3 m | A typical single shop unit | £1,750 to £2,295 |
| 3 to 4 m | A wider single unit | £2,195 to £2,895 |
| 4 to 5 m | A double-fronted or corner unit | £2,695 to £3,495 |
| 5 to 6 m | A large double unit | £3,195 to £4,295 |
Guide prices, not offers. Your written quotation sets the final figure.
Do you need consent in Caterham?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Tandridge District Council will normally expect a planning application. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
