What can you expect in Croydon?
Local rules matter more than people expect. London Borough of Croydon handles planning for Croydon, and its view of external shutters and frontage changes shapes what we recommend.
What makes the difference?
How is the shutter controlled?
By key switch, remote or both, and we specify a manual override for power cuts. Keep the override instructions somewhere that staff can find them.
Steel or aluminium laths?
Steel is stronger and heavier. Aluminium is lighter and quieter, which helps under flats. Most shops are well served by either.
Does a shutter need planning permission?
An external shutter usually does. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too. An internal grille or shutter is usually the safer route, so we can advise what to check before you order.
What should you budget?

| 3 to 4 m | A wider single unit | £2,195 to £2,895 |
| 4 to 5 m | A double-fronted or corner unit | £2,695 to £3,495 |
| 5 to 6 m | A large double unit | £3,195 to £4,295 |
