What is worth knowing before you start?
What affects the price most?
Width, the number of doors, glass type and any strip-out. A second door or a laminated upgrade moves the figure more than the colour does.
How is the frontage measured?
We measure the structural opening, not the old frame. Lintel condition, floor level and how square the opening is all get recorded at survey.
Can you repair the frontage too?
Yes. We repair doors, closers, locks, hinges and beads, and glass can be measured at the same visit.
Will this need planning permission in Craigavon?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council will normally expect a planning application. In Northern Ireland, councils decide planning applications, and Building Control applications are separate. Listed buildings need listed building consent.
