How does it work in Risca?
A frontage in Risca has to suit the street as well as the shop. Caerphilly County Borough Council decides what is acceptable where planning applies, so we draw with that in mind.
What should you check before you decide?
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.
What electrics are needed?
A power supply near the box, installed by a qualified electrician. We show the position on the drawing.
Steel or aluminium laths?
Steel is stronger and heavier. Aluminium is lighter and quieter, which helps under flats. Most shops are well served by either.

Do you need consent in Risca?
Probably, if it is external. Caerphilly County Borough Council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent, and rules are set by the Welsh Government.
