What can you expect in Rhymney?
Rhymney sits in Gwent, and Caerphilly County Borough Council is the planning authority. For most shops that means checking consent before the order is placed, not after it.
What should you think about first?
Steel or aluminium laths?
Steel is stronger and heavier. Aluminium is lighter and quieter, which helps under flats. Most shops are well served by either.
Can the shutter match my frontage?
Yes. Curtain, box and guides are powder coated to a RAL colour to match your frame as closely as the finish allows.
How is the shutter controlled?
By key switch, remote or both, and we specify a manual override for power cuts. Keep the override instructions somewhere that staff can find them.

Will this need planning permission in Rhymney?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Caerphilly County Borough Council will normally expect a planning application. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent, and rules are set by the Welsh Government.
What do people ask about high-security shutters in Rhymney?
Do I need planning permission for a shutter in Rhymney?
An external shutter usually needs it, and Caerphilly County Borough Council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too.
Do you cover the postcodes around Rhymney?
Yes, including NP22.
Can you match the shutter to my shopfront?
Yes. We powder coat to a RAL colour to match your frame as closely as we can.
What does LPS 1175 mean?
It is a Loss Prevention Standard for intruder-resistant products. The rating shows the tools tested and how long the product held out.
