What happens in Newquay?
Working in Newquay means working with Cornwall Council on planning, and sometimes with a landlord on the lease. We flag both early, so that neither one holds up your opening date.
What is worth knowing?
Steel or aluminium laths?
Steel is stronger and heavier. Aluminium is lighter and quieter, which helps under flats. Most shops are well served by either.
How is the shutter controlled?
By key switch, remote or both, and we specify a manual override for power cuts. Keep the override instructions somewhere that staff can find them.
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.

Will this need planning permission in Newquay?
An external shutter normally needs planning permission from Cornwall Council. An internal shutter or grille often does not, so it is worth checking before you order. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
