What happens in Whickham?
A frontage in Whickham has to suit the street as well as the shop. Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council decides what is acceptable where planning applies, so we draw with that in mind.
What is worth knowing?
Can it have a shutter later?
Yes, but it is far neater to allow for one now. Tell us at survey, and we will leave height behind the fascia even if the shutter comes later.
Can I keep trading during the work?
Often, in part. Fitting days can be planned for your quiet days, and closed-day or out-of-hours work can be arranged.
What affects the price most?
Width, the number of doors, glass type and any strip-out. A second door or a laminated upgrade moves the figure more than the colour does.
How much will it cost?

Do you need consent in Whickham?
A like-for-like replacement often does not need permission, but a visibly different frontage usually does. The application goes to Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
