What can you expect in Glenrothes?
Most shop owners come to us at one of three points: a new lease, a break-in, or a frontage that has finally given up. In each case the first step is a survey, and we cover postcodes including KY7, KY6 and KY14.
What is worth knowing?
What about the fascia and sign?
We set out the fascia at the same time, so your sign fixings and any shutter box do not clash. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area.
Should the stallriser stay?
A stallriser protects the bottom of the glass from kicks, trolleys and cleaning water. On older streets it is also part of the look.
What does the written quotation show?
Every item: frame, glass, doors, stallriser, strip-out and any electrics. It stays valid for 90 days, and nothing is ordered until you accept.
How much will it cost?
| Opening width | Typical unit | Guide price plus VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 3 m | A typical single shop unit | £2,450 to £3,995 |
| 3 to 4 m | A wider single unit | £3,195 to £5,195 |
| 4 to 5 m | A double-fronted or corner unit | £3,995 to £6,495 |
| 5 to 6 m | A large double unit | £4,795 to £7,995 |
Guide prices, not offers. Your written quotation sets the final figure.
Do you need consent in Glenrothes?
Usually yes, if the look of the frontage changes. Replacing like for like may not need permission, but Fife Council has the final say. In Scotland, work can also need a building warrant before it starts, and listed buildings need listed building consent from the council.
