Most shop owners come to us at one of three points: a new lease, a break-in, or a frontage that has finally given up. In each case the first step is a survey, and we cover postcodes including DG1 and DG2.

What should you think about first?
What does the written quotation show?
Every item: frame, glass, doors, stallriser, strip-out and any electrics. It stays valid for 90 days, and nothing is ordered until you accept.
Can I keep trading during the work?
Often, in part. Fitting days can be planned for your quiet days, and closed-day or out-of-hours work can be arranged.
How is the frontage measured?
We measure the structural opening, not the old frame. Lintel condition, floor level and how square the opening is all get recorded at survey.
Will this need planning permission in Dumfries?
Usually yes, if the look of the frontage changes. Replacing like for like may not need permission, but Dumfries and Galloway Council has the final say. In Scotland, work can also need a building warrant before it starts, and listed buildings need listed building consent from the council.
