What is worth knowing before you start?
How does a joint install save trading time?
The frontage and shutter go in as one sequence, so you close once. With two contractors, you close twice and hope they agree on who damaged what.
Can I phase the work?
Yes. If cash flow is tight, we can fit the frontage first and leave the box, guides and power ready for the shutter later.
How do I stop it happening again?
Most failures give a warning: noise, slow running, a door that needs a push. A planned service catches these early.
Will this need planning permission in Thurso?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Highland Council will normally expect a planning application. In Scotland, work can also need a building warrant before it starts, and listed buildings need listed building consent from the council.
What do people ask?
Do you cover Thurso?
Yes. Surveys here are by arrangement.
Which council handles planning in Thurso?
Highland Council. We tell you at survey whether your work needs consent.
Do you cover Thurso for both the shopfront and shutter?
Yes. One surveyor and one fitting team handle both parts in Thurso.
How much is a shopfront and shutter package in Thurso?
For a unit up to 3 m wide, guide prices start from £3,895 plus VAT. The written quotation after a survey by arrangement sets the final price.
