What is worth knowing before you start?
Which colours work best?
Dark greys and black are the most requested because they frame the shop well. In a conservation area, ask us first, as colour can matter to the council.
Should the stallriser stay?
A stallriser protects the bottom of the glass from kicks, trolleys and cleaning water. On older streets it is also part of the look.
Is it worth repairing an old shutter?
Often, if the curtain and guides are sound. If not, we will price a replacement so that you can compare.
Do you need consent in Caerleon?
Probably, if it is external. Newport City Council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent, and rules are set by the Welsh Government.
