What is worth knowing before you start?
How does a joint install save trading time?
The frontage and shutter go in as one sequence, so you close once. With two contractors, you close twice and hope they agree on who damaged what.
Who is responsible if something goes wrong?
One company. Your contract is with S&K Glazing Limited for both parts, so nobody can point at the other contractor.
Can you repair the frontage too?
Yes. We repair doors, closers, locks, hinges and beads, and glass can be measured at the same visit.
Will this need planning permission in Tyldesley?
An external shutter normally needs planning permission from Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council. An internal shutter or grille often does not, so it is worth checking before you order. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
