What happens in Eastwood?
A frontage in Eastwood has to suit the street as well as the shop. Broxtowe Borough Council decides what is acceptable where planning applies, so we draw with that in mind.
What is worth knowing?
What will my insurer want?
Some insurers name a shutter type or rating, and many ask for locks and service records. Ask them before you order, as it saves a change later.
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.
Can the shutter match my frontage?
Yes. Curtain, box and guides are powder coated to a RAL colour to match your frame as closely as the finish allows.
How much will it cost?
| Opening width | Typical unit | Guide price plus VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 3 m | A typical single shop unit | £2,195 to £2,895 |
| 3 to 4 m | A wider single unit | £2,795 to £3,595 |
| 4 to 5 m | A double-fronted or corner unit | £3,395 to £4,395 |
| 5 to 6 m | A large double unit | £3,995 to £5,195 |
Guide prices, not offers. Your written quotation sets the final figure.
Do you need consent in Eastwood?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Broxtowe Borough Council will normally expect a planning application. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
