What is worth knowing?
Do I need a safety edge?
That depends on the risk assessment. Powered shutters near the public are assessed against BS EN 12453, and we quote what the result calls for.
How is the shutter controlled?
By key switch, remote or both, and we specify a manual override for power cuts. Keep the override instructions somewhere that staff can find them.
What electrics are needed?
A power supply near the box, installed by a qualified electrician. We show the position on the drawing.
Do you need consent in Cheltenham?
An external shutter normally needs planning permission from Cheltenham Borough Council. An internal shutter or grille often does not, so it is worth checking before you order. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
