What makes the difference?
What will my insurer want?
Some insurers name a shutter type or rating, and many ask for locks and service records. Ask them before you order, as it saves a change later.
How long does a shutter last?
Curtains and guides can last many years with planned servicing. Motors, springs and locks go first, and a busy shop will wear them faster.
Can the shutter match my frontage?
Yes. Curtain, box and guides are powder coated to a RAL colour to match your frame as closely as the finish allows.
Will this need planning permission in Carrickfergus?
Probably, if it is external. Mid and East Antrim Borough Council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too. In Northern Ireland, councils decide planning applications, and Building Control applications are separate. Listed buildings need listed building consent.
