What can you expect in Wallasey?
Wallasey sits in Merseyside, and Wirral Borough Council is the planning authority. For most shops that means checking consent before the order is placed, not after it.
What is worth knowing?
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.
Do I need a safety edge?
That depends on the risk assessment. Powered shutters near the public are assessed against BS EN 12453, and we quote what the result calls for.
Steel or aluminium laths?
Steel is stronger and heavier. Aluminium is lighter and quieter, which helps under flats. Most shops are well served by either.
How much will it cost?

| 3 to 4 m | A wider single unit | £2,195 to £2,895 |
| 4 to 5 m | A double-fronted or corner unit | £2,695 to £3,495 |
| 5 to 6 m | A large double unit | £3,195 to £4,295 |
Guide prices, not offers. Your written quotation sets the final figure.
Will this need planning permission in Wallasey?
An external shutter normally needs planning permission from Wirral Borough Council. An internal shutter or grille often does not, so it is worth checking before you order. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
