What can you expect in Verwood?
Whether the unit is on the main shopping street or a local parade in Verwood, the job is measured the same way, and Dorset Council is the council to check with.
What should you think about first?
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.
How is the shutter controlled?
By key switch, remote or both, and we specify a manual override for power cuts. Keep the override instructions somewhere that staff can find them.
How long does a shutter last?
Curtains and guides can last many years with planned servicing. Motors, springs and locks go first, and a busy shop will wear them faster.

Will this need planning permission in Verwood?
An external shutter normally needs planning permission from Dorset Council. An internal shutter or grille often does not, so it is worth checking before you order. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
