What should you think about first?
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.
How long does a shutter last?
Curtains and guides can last many years with planned servicing. Motors, springs and locks go first, and a busy shop will wear them faster.
Can the shutter match my frontage?
Yes. Curtain, box and guides are powder coated to a RAL colour to match your frame as closely as the finish allows.
Will this need planning permission in Prestwich?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Bury Metropolitan Borough Council will normally expect a planning application. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.

Do I need planning permission for a shutter in Prestwich?
An external shutter usually needs it, and Bury Metropolitan Borough Council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too.
How much does a perforated roller shutter cost in Prestwich?

Can you see into a shop through perforated shutters?
You can make out the display at night, not fine detail, and it depends on the lighting inside.
