What makes the difference?
Does a shutter need planning permission?
An external shutter usually does. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too. An internal grille or shutter is usually the safer route, so we can advise what to check before you order.
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.
How is the shutter controlled?
By key switch, remote or both, and we specify a manual override for power cuts. Keep the override instructions somewhere that staff can find them.
Do you need consent in Pontefract?
Probably, if it is external. Wakefield Metropolitan District Council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.

How soon can you fit a perforated roller shutter in Pontefract?
Lead time is 2 to 3 weeks after survey. We agree the fitting day with you.
Can you match the shutter to my shopfront?
Yes. We powder coat to a RAL colour to match your frame as closely as we can.
How much does a perforated roller shutter cost in Pontefract?
For an opening up to 3 m wide, guide prices start from £1,750 plus VAT. The survey sets the final price.
Are perforated shutters as strong as solid ones?
Close to it. The holes are small and the lath keeps its shape, though a solid lath is still stronger.
