Forres sits in Aberdeenshire and Moray, and Moray Council is the planning authority. For most shops that means checking consent before the order is placed, not after it.

What should you check before you decide?
How is the shutter controlled?
By key switch, remote or both, and we specify a manual override for power cuts. Keep the override instructions somewhere that staff can find them.
Surface box or hidden box?
A surface box under the fascia is quicker and cheaper. A hidden box looks far better, but needs height above the door head and a removable access panel.
Can the shutter match my frontage?
Yes. Curtain, box and guides are powder coated to a RAL colour to match your frame as closely as the finish allows.
Do you need consent in Forres?
Probably, if it is external. Moray Council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too. In Scotland, work can also need a building warrant before it starts, and listed buildings need listed building consent from the council.

Are perforated shutters more likely to get planning permission?
Not reliably. Some councils accept them and others resist them, so check with your council before you order.
