What can you expect in Farnham?
Farnham sits in Surrey, and Waverley Borough Council is the planning authority. For most shops that means checking consent before the order is placed, not after it.
What should you think about first?
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.
What will my insurer want?
Some insurers name a shutter type or rating, and many ask for locks and service records. Ask them before you order, as it saves a change later.
Do I need a safety edge?
That depends on the risk assessment. Powered shutters near the public are assessed against BS EN 12453, and we quote what the result calls for.

Do you need consent in Farnham?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Waverley Borough Council will normally expect a planning application. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
