What is worth knowing?
What electrics are needed?
A power supply near the box, installed by a qualified electrician. We show the position on the drawing.
Do I need a safety edge?
That depends on the risk assessment. Powered shutters near the public are assessed against BS EN 12453, and we quote what the result calls for.
Does a shutter need planning permission?
An external shutter usually does. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too. An internal grille or shutter is usually the safer route, so we can advise what to check before you order.
Will this need planning permission in Enniskillen?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will normally expect a planning application. In Northern Ireland, councils decide planning applications, and Building Control applications are separate. Listed buildings need listed building consent.
