What should you check before you decide?
How long does a shutter last?
Curtains and guides can last many years with planned servicing. Motors, springs and locks go first, and a busy shop will wear them faster.
Do I need a safety edge?
That depends on the risk assessment. Powered shutters near the public are assessed against BS EN 12453, and we quote what the result calls for.
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.
Will this need planning permission in Dursley?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Stroud District Council will normally expect a planning application. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
What do people ask about perforated roller shutters in Dursley?
Do you cover the postcodes around Dursley?
Yes, including GL11, GL12 and GL13.
Do I need planning permission for a shutter in Dursley?
An external shutter usually needs it, and Stroud District Council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too.
How much does a perforated roller shutter cost in Dursley?
For an opening up to 3 m wide, guide prices start from £1,750 plus VAT. The survey sets the final price.
Can you see into a shop through perforated shutters?
You can make out the display at night, not fine detail, and it depends on the lighting inside.
