What makes the difference?
What electrics are needed?
A power supply near the box, installed by a qualified electrician. We show the position on the drawing.
Do I need a safety edge?
That depends on the risk assessment. Powered shutters near the public are assessed against BS EN 12453, and we quote what the result calls for.
How is the shutter controlled?
By key switch, remote or both, and we specify a manual override for power cuts. Keep the override instructions somewhere that staff can find them.
Do you need consent in Camden Town?
Probably, if it is external. London Borough of Camden decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.

Are perforated shutters as strong as solid ones?
Close to it. The holes are small and the lath keeps its shape, though a solid lath is still stronger.
