What makes the difference?
Surface box or hidden box?
A surface box under the fascia is quicker and cheaper. A hidden box looks far better, but needs height above the door head and a removable access panel.
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.
Do I need a safety edge?
That depends on the risk assessment. Powered shutters near the public are assessed against BS EN 12453, and we quote what the result calls for.
Do you need consent across West Glamorgan?
Usually not for internal work, although listed buildings can need consent even inside. Your council can confirm. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent, and rules are set by the Welsh Government.
What do people ask about internal shutters across West Glamorgan?
Do I need planning permission for a shutter across West Glamorgan?
An external shutter usually needs it, and your council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too.
How much does an internal shutter cost across West Glamorgan?
For an opening up to 3 m wide, guide prices start from £1,395 plus VAT. The survey sets the final price.
Can you match the shutter to my shopfront?
Yes. We powder coat to a RAL colour to match your frame as closely as we can.
Do internal shutters stop the glass being broken?
No, the glass stays exposed. Laminated glass is the right partner.
