What can you expect in Thatcham?
Working in Thatcham means working with West Berkshire Council on planning, and sometimes with a landlord on the lease. We flag both early, so that neither one holds up your opening date.
What makes the difference?
Steel or aluminium laths?
Steel is stronger and heavier. Aluminium is lighter and quieter, which helps under flats. Most shops are well served by either.
What electrics are needed?
A power supply near the box, installed by a qualified electrician. We show the position on the drawing.
Surface box or hidden box?
A surface box under the fascia is quicker and cheaper. A hidden box looks far better, but needs height above the door head and a removable access panel.

Will this need planning permission in Thatcham?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so West Berkshire Council will normally expect a planning application. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
