How does it work in Southsea?
Southsea sits in Hampshire, and Portsmouth City Council is the planning authority. For most shops that means checking consent before the order is placed, not after it.
What should you think about first?
Surface box or hidden box?
A surface box under the fascia is quicker and cheaper. A hidden box looks far better, but needs height above the door head and a removable access panel.
Steel or aluminium laths?
Steel is stronger and heavier. Aluminium is lighter and quieter, which helps under flats. Most shops are well served by either.
Can the shutter match my frontage?
Yes. Curtain, box and guides are powder coated to a RAL colour to match your frame as closely as the finish allows.

Will this need planning permission in Southsea?
An external shutter normally needs planning permission from Portsmouth City Council. An internal shutter or grille often does not, so it is worth checking before you order. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
