What can you expect in Galashiels?
Galashiels sits in the Scottish Borders, and Scottish Borders Council is the planning authority. For most shops that means checking consent before the order is placed, not after it.

What makes the difference?
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.
Steel or aluminium laths?
Steel is stronger and heavier. Aluminium is lighter and quieter, which helps under flats. Most shops are well served by either.
What electrics are needed?
A power supply near the box, installed by a qualified electrician. We show the position on the drawing.
Will this need planning permission in Galashiels?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Scottish Borders Council will normally expect a planning application. In Scotland, work can also need a building warrant before it starts, and listed buildings need listed building consent from the council.
What do people ask about high-security shutters in Galashiels?
Can you match the shutter to my shopfront?
Yes. We powder coat to a RAL colour to match your frame as closely as we can.
Do I need planning permission for a shutter in Galashiels?
An external shutter usually needs it, and Scottish Borders Council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too.
How much does a high-security shutter cost in Galashiels?
For an opening up to 3 m wide, guide prices start from £3,995 plus VAT. The survey sets the final price.
What does LPS 1175 mean?
It is a Loss Prevention Standard for intruder-resistant products. The rating shows the tools tested and how long the product held out.
