What should you think about first?
What will my insurer want?
Some insurers name a shutter type or rating, and many ask for locks and service records. Ask them before you order, as it saves a change later.
Steel or aluminium laths?
Steel is stronger and heavier. Aluminium is lighter and quieter, which helps under flats. Most shops are well served by either.
Surface box or hidden box?
A surface box under the fascia is quicker and cheaper. A hidden box looks far better, but needs height above the door head and a removable access panel.
Do you need consent in Carmarthen?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Carmarthenshire County Council will normally expect a planning application. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent, and rules are set by the Welsh Government.
What do people ask about high-security shutters in Carmarthen?
Do I need planning permission for a shutter in Carmarthen?
An external shutter usually needs it, and Carmarthenshire County Council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too.
Do you cover the postcodes around Carmarthen?
Yes, including SA31, SA33 and SA32.
How much does a high-security shutter cost in Carmarthen?
For an opening up to 3 m wide, guide prices start from £3,995 plus VAT. The survey sets the final price.
What rating do I need?
Ask your insurer first. Many specify a rating or leave it to a survey.
