What happens in Altrincham?
Working in Altrincham means working with Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council on planning, and sometimes with a landlord on the lease. We flag both early, so that neither one holds up your opening date.
What should you check before you decide?
How long does a shutter last?
Curtains and guides can last many years with planned servicing. Motors, springs and locks go first, and a busy shop will wear them faster.
What will my insurer want?
Some insurers name a shutter type or rating, and many ask for locks and service records. Ask them before you order, as it saves a change later.
Do I need a safety edge?
That depends on the risk assessment. Powered shutters near the public are assessed against BS EN 12453, and we quote what the result calls for.

Do you need consent in Altrincham?
An external shutter normally needs planning permission from Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council. An internal shutter or grille often does not, so it is worth checking before you order. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
