What should you check before you decide?
How do you deal with the threshold?
We aim for level or near-level access. New doors need thought about wheelchair and pushchair users, and we check the floor before we promise anything.
Which glass should go in?
Safety glass is needed in doors, side panels and low-level panes. Laminated glass is worth the extra if the street has a history of break-ins.
Can it have a shutter later?
Yes, but it is far neater to allow for one now. Tell us at survey, and we will leave height behind the fascia even if the shutter comes later.
Will this need planning permission in Stratford?
A like-for-like replacement often does not need permission, but a visibly different frontage usually does. The application goes to London Borough of Newham. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
