What can you expect in Kidlington?
Whether the unit is on the main shopping street or a local parade in Kidlington, the job is measured the same way, and Cherwell District Council is the council to check with.
What should you check before you decide?
What does the written quotation show?
Every item: frame, glass, doors, stallriser, strip-out and any electrics. It stays valid for 90 days, and nothing is ordered until you accept.
What affects the price most?
Width, the number of doors, glass type and any strip-out. A second door or a laminated upgrade moves the figure more than the colour does.
How is the frontage measured?
We measure the structural opening, not the old frame. Lintel condition, floor level and how square the opening is all get recorded at survey.
What should you budget?
| Opening width | Typical unit | Guide price plus VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 3 m | A typical single shop unit | £4,995 to £6,995 |
| 3 to 4 m | A wider single unit | £6,495 to £8,495 |
| 4 to 5 m | A double-fronted or corner unit | £7,995 to £10,295 |
| 5 to 6 m | A large double unit | £9,495 to £11,995 |
Guide prices, not offers. Your written quotation sets the final figure.
Do you need consent in Kidlington?
It depends on how much changes. A new layout, new materials or a moved door usually needs permission from Cherwell District Council. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
