What happens in Cramlington?
Whether the unit is on the main shopping street or a local parade in Cramlington, the job is measured the same way, and Northumberland County Council is the council to check with.
What should you check before you decide?
Does a shutter need planning permission?
An external shutter usually does. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too. An internal grille or shutter is usually the safer route, so we can advise what to check before you order.
How is the shutter controlled?
By key switch, remote or both, and we specify a manual override for power cuts. Keep the override instructions somewhere that staff can find them.
What about a fire exit?
A shutter must never trap people in. If it covers an escape route, it needs to be open while the premises are occupied, or opened easily from inside.
What should you budget?
