What can you expect in Coleraine?
Working in Coleraine means working with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council on planning, and sometimes with a landlord on the lease. We flag both early, so that neither one holds up your opening date.
What should you check before you decide?
How long does a shutter last?
Curtains and guides can last many years with planned servicing. Motors, springs and locks go first, and a busy shop will wear them faster.
How is the shutter controlled?
By key switch, remote or both, and we specify a manual override for power cuts. Keep the override instructions somewhere that staff can find them.
What will my insurer want?
Some insurers name a shutter type or rating, and many ask for locks and service records. Ask them before you order, as it saves a change later.

Do you need consent in Coleraine?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council will normally expect a planning application. In Northern Ireland, councils decide planning applications, and Building Control applications are separate. Listed buildings need listed building consent.
