What can you expect across the Scottish Borders?
Our teams cover Hawick, Galashiels, Peebles and Kelso and the rest of the Scottish Borders. If your shop is in a conservation area or a listed building, tell us at the start, because it changes the options. Hawick, Galashiels, Kelso and Peebles are stone textile and market towns.

What should you check before you decide?
Will the colours really match?
Frame and shutter are powder coated to the same RAL reference. Coating on different materials can vary slightly, which we will show you on samples first.
Should I choose solid or perforated?
Solid gives more privacy and strength. Perforated keeps the window working at night. On the outside of a shop, some councils resist both, so check before you choose.
Is the box accessible for servicing?
It has to be. We build in a removable panel so that an engineer can reach the motor, brake and spring parts.
Will this need planning permission across the Scottish Borders?
Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so your council will normally expect a planning application. In Scotland, work can also need a building warrant before it starts, and listed buildings need listed building consent from the council.
What do people ask about shopfronts with concealed shutters across the Scottish Borders?
Who decides planning for a frontage across the Scottish Borders?
Your council is the planning authority. We tell you at survey what is likely to need consent.
Do you cover the Scottish Borders for both the shopfront and shutter?
Yes. One surveyor and one fitting team handle both parts across the Scottish Borders.
How long does a package take across the Scottish Borders?
For aluminium and steel frontages, usually 3 to 6 weeks from drawing sign-off. Other materials are confirmed on your quotation.
Can I conceal a shutter on my existing shopfront?
Sometimes, if the fascia can be rebuilt. Otherwise a neat surface box in a matching colour is the practical answer.
