What can you expect in Newtownards?
Newtownards sits in County Down, and Ards and North Down Borough Council is the planning authority. For most shops that means checking consent before the order is placed, not after it.
What should you check before you decide?
How do you deal with the threshold?
We aim for level or near-level access. New doors need thought about wheelchair and pushchair users, and we check the floor before we promise anything.
Can it have a shutter later?
Yes, but it is far neater to allow for one now. Tell us at survey, and we will leave height behind the fascia even if the shutter comes later.
Should the stallriser stay?
A stallriser protects the bottom of the glass from kicks, trolleys and cleaning water. On older streets it is also part of the look.
How much will it cost?

| 3 to 4 m | A wider single unit | £3,195 to £5,195 |

Usually yes, if the look of the frontage changes. Replacing like for like may not need permission, but Ards and North Down Borough Council has the final say.
