What can you expect in Merthyr Tydfil?
Merthyr Tydfil sits in Mid Glamorgan, and Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is the planning authority. For most shops that means checking consent before the order is placed, not after it.
What makes the difference?
How is the frontage measured?
We measure the structural opening, not the old frame. Lintel condition, floor level and how square the opening is all get recorded at survey.
Which colours work best?
Dark greys and black are the most requested because they frame the shop well. In a conservation area, ask us first, as colour can matter to the council.
Can I keep trading during the work?
Often, in part. Fitting days can be planned for your quiet days, and closed-day or out-of-hours work can be arranged.
How much will it cost?
| Opening width | Typical unit | Guide price plus VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 3 m | A typical single shop unit | £2,450 to £3,995 |
| 3 to 4 m | A wider single unit | £3,195 to £5,195 |
| 4 to 5 m | A double-fronted or corner unit | £3,995 to £6,495 |
| 5 to 6 m | A large double unit | £4,795 to £7,995 |
