What is worth knowing?
Which glass should go in?
Safety glass is needed in doors, side panels and low-level panes. Laminated glass is worth the extra if the street has a history of break-ins.
How do you deal with the threshold?
We aim for level or near-level access. New doors need thought about wheelchair and pushchair users, and we check the floor before we promise anything.
How is the frontage measured?
We measure the structural opening, not the old frame. Lintel condition, floor level and how square the opening is all get recorded at survey.
Do you need consent in Hemel Hempstead?
Usually yes, if the look of the frontage changes. Replacing like for like may not need permission, but Dacorum Borough Council has the final say. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
What do people ask about aluminium shopfronts in Hemel Hempstead?
Can you add a shutter to the new shopfront?
Yes, and it is best planned now. We can price the frontage and shutter as one job.
Do you cover the postcodes around Hemel Hempstead?
Yes, including HP2, HP3 and HP1.
Does a new shopfront in Hemel Hempstead need planning permission?
A change to how the frontage looks usually does. Dacorum Borough Council is the council to check with, and we advise at survey.
What colours can I have?
Any RAL colour in powder coat. Anthracite, black, white and navy are the common choices.
