What happens in Devizes?
Whether the unit is on the main shopping street or a local parade in Devizes, the job is measured the same way, and Wiltshire Council is the council to check with.
What makes the difference?
Should the stallriser stay?
A stallriser protects the bottom of the glass from kicks, trolleys and cleaning water. On older streets it is also part of the look.
Can I keep trading during the work?
Often, in part. Fitting days can be planned for your quiet days, and closed-day or out-of-hours work can be arranged.
What about the fascia and sign?
We set out the fascia at the same time, so your sign fixings and any shutter box do not clash. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area.
What should you budget?
| Opening width | Typical unit | Guide price plus VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 3 m | A typical single shop unit | £2,450 to £3,995 |
| 3 to 4 m | A wider single unit | £3,195 to £5,195 |
| 4 to 5 m | A double-fronted or corner unit | £3,995 to £6,495 |
| 5 to 6 m | A large double unit | £4,795 to £7,995 |
Guide prices, not offers. Your written quotation sets the final figure.
Do you need consent in Devizes?
It depends on how much changes. A new layout, new materials or a moved door usually needs permission from Wiltshire Council. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
