How does it work in Camberley?
Whether the unit is on the main shopping street or a local parade in Camberley, the job is measured the same way, and Surrey Heath Borough Council is the council to check with.
What makes the difference?
How is the frontage measured?
We measure the structural opening, not the old frame. Lintel condition, floor level and how square the opening is all get recorded at survey.
How do you deal with the threshold?
We aim for level or near-level access. New doors need thought about wheelchair and pushchair users, and we check the floor before we promise anything.
What affects the price most?
Width, the number of doors, glass type and any strip-out. A second door or a laminated upgrade moves the figure more than the colour does.
What should you budget?
| Opening width | Typical unit | Guide price plus VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 3 m | A typical single shop unit | £2,450 to £3,995 |
| 3 to 4 m | A wider single unit | £3,195 to £5,195 |
| 4 to 5 m | A double-fronted or corner unit | £3,995 to £6,495 |
| 5 to 6 m | A large double unit | £4,795 to £7,995 |
Guide prices, not offers. Your written quotation sets the final figure.
Will this need planning permission in Camberley?
A like-for-like replacement often does not need permission, but a visibly different frontage usually does. The application goes to Surrey Heath Borough Council. Illuminated signs can need advertisement consent, depending on size, position and area. Listed buildings need listed building consent as well.
