What is worth knowing?
Which glass should go in?
Safety glass is needed in doors, side panels and low-level panes. Laminated glass is worth the extra if the street has a history of break-ins.
How is the frontage measured?
We measure the structural opening, not the old frame. Lintel condition, floor level and how square the opening is all get recorded at survey.
Which colours work best?
Dark greys and black are the most requested because they frame the shop well. In a conservation area, ask us first, as colour can matter to the council.
Do you need consent in Brechin?
It depends on how much changes. A new layout, new materials or a moved door usually needs permission from Angus Council. In Scotland, work can also need a building warrant before it starts, and listed buildings need listed building consent from the council.
