What is worth knowing before you start?

Surface box or hidden box?

A surface box under the fascia is quicker and cheaper. A hidden box looks far better, but needs height above the door head and a removable access panel.

How is the shutter controlled?

By key switch, remote or both, and we specify a manual override for power cuts. Keep the override instructions somewhere that staff can find them.

Can you repair the frontage too?

Yes. We repair doors, closers, locks, hinges and beads, and glass can be measured at the same visit.

Do you need consent in Ayr?

Probably, if it is external. South Ayrshire Council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too. In Scotland, work can also need a building warrant before it starts, and listed buildings need listed building consent from the council.

What do people ask?

Do you cover Ayr?

Yes. We survey and fit here, and the survey for new work is free.

Which council handles planning in Ayr?

South Ayrshire Council. We tell you at survey whether your work needs consent.

How soon can you fit an electric roller shutter in Ayr?

Lead time is 2 to 3 weeks after survey. We agree the fitting day with you.

Do I need planning permission for a shutter in Ayr?

An external shutter usually needs it, and South Ayrshire Council decides. Many councils resist solid external shutters, and some resist perforated ones too.
