What is worth knowing before you start?

What affects the price most?

Width, the number of doors, glass type and any strip-out. A second door or a laminated upgrade moves the figure more than the colour does.

How do you deal with the threshold?

We aim for level or near-level access. New doors need thought about wheelchair and pushchair users, and we check the floor before we promise anything.

Is it worth repairing an old shutter?

Often, if the curtain and guides are sound. If not, we will price a replacement so that you can compare.

Will this need planning permission in Elgin?

Usually yes, if the shutter goes on the outside. External shutters change how the building looks, so Moray Council will normally expect a planning application. In Scotland, work can also need a building warrant before it starts, and listed buildings need listed building consent from the council.
